The Quebec Oil and Gas Association (QOGA), also known as l’Association pétrolière et gazière du Québec (APGQ), was created to encourage dialogue in Quebec about the potential of the province’s emerging oil and gas industry. Quebec’s energy resources can be developed in a secure and environmentally responsible manner. This development can favour Quebec’s economic growth. Our goal is to illustrate the shared interests and potential mutual benefits for both the people of Quebec and members of our industry.
Quebec’s shale gas deposits represent an economic opportunity for the province which could rival the James Bay Project of the 1970s. Shale gas has the potential to bring Quebec greater independence within the energy sector. Shale gas will reduce Quebec’s dependence on energy producers beyond its borders.
APGQ/QOGA members have conducted exploratory testing which will help to confirm the extent of shale gas deposits in the province and determine the economic and environmental feasibility of its extraction.
