The increase of natural gas supply locally through the production of Quebec’s shale gas will help exert downward pressure on natural gas prices, making natural gas more competitive compared to other fuels.
This will lead to significant economic advantages for all Quebec consumers.
In addition, the development of Quebec’s shale gas will strengthen Quebec’s energy self-sufficiency. Currently, less than half the energy used by Quebecers is produced within the province.
